PCSAO (Public Children Services Association of Ohio) PCSAO is a membership driven association serving Ohio's 88 County Public Children Services Agencies through the support of program excellence and sound public policy for safe children, stable families and supportive communities. We do this through member dialogue, active sharing of information, building partnerships, research, training and technical assistance, and advocacy at the state and federal level.
PCSAO CONFERENCE: The annual conference is attended by all UPP Campus Coordinators and UPP students from all 8 participating universities. Among other child welfare related workshops, the UPP students attend a specific workshop entitled, The UPP Experience.
THE UPP EXPERIENCE: This encouraging session is an exciting overview of the University Partnership Experience shared through the voices of both former UPP alumni and PCSA HR staff. In the first part of this workshop, participants hear former UPP students who are now working in the field as PCSA caseworkers, share their experiences as interns in the UPP program and as current child welfare workers. Panel members discuss how their classroom and field experiences assisted them in preparing for their current employment. Panelists share advice on what not to do and what to expect in regards to a UPP internship. In the later half of the workshop, participants hear from HR directors in small, medium, and large PCSAs who discuss what they look for when hiring new caseworkers. Participants receive advice from the panelists regarding what they should include in their resumes and how to conduct a successful interview.
